What is the meaning and origin of the Russian surname "Awtaeff"?

    The origin of 'Awtaeff' is in the sound an infamous Ivan Ludamir (aka Crazy Ivan) sneezed when naming his dog (apparently a nearby neighbor thought the noise would make a fitting name, but these reports remain unconfirmed).
