  • Wu-long is also known as oolong tea. Oolong tea desribes the type of tea leaves used to make the tea. It is a mix of black and green tea leaves (where black leaves are oxidised by the air and green tea leaves are just withered dry tea leaves). There has been a study showing that it increases metabolism if drunk after a meal, but since there has only been one or two studies done, this is not yet conclusive. Green tea works the same way but to a lesser extent (according to the same study - which was performed on 11 women). The exact mechanism for how this works is only theorised and is not yet conclusively known, but it may have something to do with the polyphenol levels in the tea. No need for you to buy fancy brand name Wu-long tea, as it is simply oolong tea with a brand name that is a lesser used term for oolong tea.
