thinking with your heart refers to acting on emotions thinking with your head refers to acting on logic. I dint think they are the same and I cant tell you which is the best one!

the heart told the mind.. "forget him!!" and the mind replied.. "how? when everytime i tried.. you f*cking bleed!!..." got the idea?

The difference is if you think with your head, you choose the most logic possibility because of your experiences, and you know it's best. Thinking with your heart is when you go with your gut feeling. You know it's not the smart thing to do but your emotions are telling you everything will be ok, so you do it anyways.

Your head/brain rationalizes and "thinks" everything through first. Your Heart goes with the flow, what you don't think of, but DO.
-
Your heart will tell you to do things that your head will tell you to check into an institution for.

Now for the straight dope: Emotion ('heart') and rationality ('head') are NOT separate systems within your consciousness. They are intimately intertwined. All decisions you make are a mixture of emotional cognition and rational cognition. Studies done on people who have suffered damage to the emotional part of the brain indicate that they are poor decision-makers. Phineas Gage is perhaps the most famous instance of this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phineas_Gage For more information on this intertwining of rationality and emotion, I recommend the following book: http://www.amazon.com/Descartes-Error-Antonio-Damasio/dp/0099501643/

No they are completely different. Your head will answer what you would either like or dislike. Your Heart will answer the truth to you. Can YOU handle the truth? Can YOU reply/answer the truth?
