8:1:1 87 octane unless the engine has been modified like bigger stroke
Yes, this engine will run fine on 87 octane regular unleaded. Please keep in mind that octane ratings listed for older engines were determined using the "research" octane number, then came the "method" octane rating, which was vastly different. Current octane ratings are an average of the 2, and aren't significantly lower than older numbers, just figured differently.

I have a 1966 Chevrolet pickup truck, with a speed on the column . I would like to change to a three speed on the floor. Does the entire transmission have to be changed or just a change of the linkage setup to put in a floor shifter?

I can not get my 1972 chevy truck to start. It gets fuel, turns over, but will not start. I checked all electrical wires and they are still connected. I drove it recently (about two weeks ago) and parked it without any problems. Anyone have any ideas?

You're reading 454 Chevrolet 7.4 liter engine from a 1976 Chevrolet pickup truck , what is the compression ratio ? Will this engine run on 87 octane fuel ? I just picked one up.
