  • Sounds fishy... but maybe, what does your employment contract say? If it doesn't say anything about property damage, seems to me, you don't have to pay. Seems to me, the employer should have insurance for conditions like this. If it's really expensive, you might want to get a real legal opinion.
  • If you have an employment contract..check it..if it doesnt state that clearly in it..they cannot make you pay for something broken..cheap or expensive
  • I can't answer definitively, but I remember a similar question being posed to lawyer/talk show host Len Tillem: http://www.kgoam810.com/complexshowdj.asp?DJID=3556 My recollection is that the answer is NO. They can fire you, but they cannot compel you to pay for damage. If you *deliberately* break something, I suspect you can be subject to legal penalties
