Try going here for lots of info: http://www.celiac.org/ I have a relative that has this and she also can't have dairy. It's really hard for hr to find things to eat that taste like she remembers. I usually cook for her and try to find alternate ways to avoid gluten in all forms. Tough!

I have celiac disease. Im 12 years old and was recently diganosed with it. Celiac disease is when u eat something called gluten. It is in wheat, barley stuuf like that. Your body thinks its poison and trys to get rid of it, but instead it hurts itself. So you can't have any thing with wheat in it (bread, pasta). You get specially made.

Celic disease is a intestines disease. When you have celiac disease your body can't digest gluten (that is just a fancy name for wheat, barley, spelt. Instead of digesting it some peoples body trys to destroy it but end up hurting their own body.Other people can't get it down and end up throwing it back up. Some people don't even notice there body getting hurt. And to cure it you have to eat everything with no wheat, barley etc. for the rest of your life. It's hard, I know. I have celiac disease, but the food is really good. You just got to geet use to it. For more information go to http://www.celiacteens.com or http://www.kidshealth.com -keyword celiac disease.

My mother has Celiac. It is genetic, but doesn't show except when there has been some kind of major trauma, in her case a car accident. Celiac is when you become allergic to glutens, which are found in wheat and several other types of grain. (Also makes its way into many processed food products, like mayonnaise.) The gluten irritates the lining of the intestines, and causes it to come off, reducing your ability to absorb nutrients. Your body can starve to death of certain nutrients, even though you eat plenty. Symptoms may be similar to arthritis. Fortunately, a change in diet can keep it at bay, but it is more drastic than just not eating bread. The slightest bit of gluten from any food can cause weeks of pain, at its worst, though it often starts out less extreme than that. Celiac is most common in people of Scandinavian descent, and you are lucky if a doctor has been able to diagnose it. My mother had to see at least five doctors before her father discovered that it could be Celiac and she went to two doctors asking if that was it. Awareness is rising, and there are several gluten free cookbooks available.
