no, national identity is something that is instilled in you no matter how hard you try to fight against it. People will divide themselves into groups no matter what, its part of what we are.

I would say that it holds very little relevance. Being from a certain nation does not make you any better than someone else from a different nation does it? Certainly it does not in God's eyes, and that is what really matters.
