Friedrich Nietzsche once said "The thought of suicide is a great consolation; by means of it one gets through many a bad night." What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe it is wrong to use the idea of suicide to console yourself?

This concept is of great help to those living on the edge of a life gone wrong. If the statement "what dosent kill me makes me stronger" has any validity a person going through exceptionaly hard times might use this logic. If things get too bad I can always kill myself, thus giving a person another option or fail-safe to keep trying, although the present circumstances of thier life might seem insurmountable.

How on earth do you console yourself with plotting your own suicide? You'd be much better off consoling yourself with a large bottle of anti-depressants that you got from the doctor.

I'll bet there is; it's just not the solution that you want.

If you are unable to resolve it, then how about accepting things will remain the same as they are now and then 'moving on' so to speak. When nothing can be done, then there is really no point in spending any more time and energy feeling like crap and contemplating death. Afterall, it will make no difference either now or 2 years from now. It will achieve nothing - it's not as if you are paying penance .

What if the solution was to accept that there is no solution? What if you said to yourself 'I am satisfied that I have explored every avenue and accept that I cannot resolve it. It is, what it is and I cannot change it. I'm OK with this. What I can change though, is the way I allow this to make me feel. There is no point to my continuing misery - it will not make a difference & god knows I've tried Therefore, I may just as well feel happy as sad. What's done is done, it's in the past and I may not feel proud of this but that doesn't mean I can't accept it and move on to other things before I waste my life consume by the past.
