  • You tell 'em Ben!!
  • What is this Communist Russia. We have free will and do what we want as long as it's legal and 'they' approve of our actions.
  • We all 'deserve' both but, in reality, the two are not wholly compatible. When drawn out to the Nth degree, it usually ends up that man will have neither if sacrificing one for the other entirely. Ideally, the two should balance each other out.
  • What? no this is Socialist America. You won't have that fee will for long if you keep thinking like that. Security must be risked in order to preserve freedom. Freedom cannot be preserved without loss. But if you think that you can get away with exercising your rights and not give up some securtity than you are sadly mistake. Normally security comes from the government, but in reality we THE PEOPLE formed that government and shoudl unite together to find security. Not is passing laws like the Patriot Act, Mitlitary Commissions Act or these 3 bailouts. The more security there is and with security comes control and with control comes slavery, little by little. After so much of this security we will accept slavery for what we think is security AND Freedom. In reality security cannot come from slavery, so you have neither.
  • And we'll be getting neither sooner than you think if we keep it up.
  • I happen to agree with Founding Father Benjamin Franklin on the issue— "Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither." By the way, I know that quote has been paraphrased slightly differently many times over the years, but just as a point of interest, it appears that his original, published in 1775, read: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." It would be interesting to hear his take on the past 8 years in the U.S. ;)
