  • I carry an epi-pen and the needle itself is not that long. Maybe about 1/2 inch to an inch (I haven't measured it). I can't breathe and my throat closes up when I have an anaphylatic reaction. If you are out and about with friends, make sure to tell them that you have it in case you cannot do it yourself. I also wear a bracelet that states my allergies.
  • If you are highly allergic the reaction can be severe enough to cause death..throat closes up and you suffocate..so..when you think about it that way..does it matter how deep that needle goes?..lol..An epi pen is a dose of epinephrine..and can save your life..by all means get one and carry it with you always
  • well if you dont get epinephrine fast enough you could go into anaphalactic shock and die so you should deffinatly carry an epi-pen. an epi-pen is just basicly a dose synthetic adrenylin that helps open your airways and everything.
  • Maybe your parents kept you away from bees...didn't want to scare you as a child. Talk to them about it.
  • If you have Anaphylaxis, then yes, you absolutely must carry an Epi-Pen with you at all times. It is actually recommended that you carry two, in case, for some reason, the first dose is not effective or there is a problem with the needle. You should also invest in a Medi-Bracelet that clearly states that you have Anaphylaxis and that you must be administered with epinephrine immediately upon being stung by a bee. A Medi-Bracelet will also allow EMS crews or medical staff know what is wrong with you if you go into Anaphylactic shock before being able to administer the Epi-Pen. This is incredibly important, as an untreated reaction can cause asphyxiation and brain death within a matter of minutes.
