  • Open IE Tools> Internet Options> Content tab > AutoComplete > Clear forms. While you are there, uncheck the 'Web Addresses' box above the clear forms button. It says 'Use autocomplete for' and then the web box is under that.
  • Click "Start >> Run" and type "regedit" (without the quotes). On the left pane, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER >> Software >> Microsoft >> Internet Explorer >> Typed URLS... Delete the typed URLs from the right pane you no longer want to appear in the drop down list. You can also renumber the items to organize the order in which the remaing items appear in the drop down list.
  • This is something that has been driving me crazy for a long time. I had tried everything and nothing was working. I finally stumbled across something to use in addition to the above mentioned comments, check to see if you have the URL in your "favorites" list. I could clear the drop down list but it would be back as soon as I started to type. Now it is gone forever!
