  • In general I think it is but it must be monitored very carefully.
  • I don't know if it's unsafe but I think they are doing a disservice to the patient because most of the drugs that they are asked to push do not yet have a generic equivilent and are very costly. They could help the patient out by prescribing a comparable drug that is available in generic.
  • that part, in an of itself doesn't seem dangerous. it's the behavior of the doctor after that which could be...
  • It's safe in that the drugs are FDA approved. However, there are reasons why more Americans than ever before are on prescription medication. One is the idiotic decision to let drug comapnies advertise on TV. The other is the cozy partnership they have with physicians.
  • In the world of business...this would be called A KICK BACK and it happens all the time in just about every conceivable type of business. And personally, NO I don't think it's safe or RIGHT. Doctors do not know half of what needs to be known about the medications they prescribe. Between the new medications being developed, the known side effects and possible negative effects they CAN have on a given number of the population, PLUS the human side...what other meds is a person already on = drug interactions...will they take the medication as it is prescribed? There are just a lot of variables and most Doctors can only keep track of so much of it...they are only human! I don't want my Doctor suggesting I take something that may or may not be right for me, based upon how much he may earn at the end of the year or the quarter...no thank you!
