a relationship whatever the sort, boyfriend/girlfrind you frinds or family, they should all bear the same values. Trust, Commitment, Support, Goood Communication( active listening) and Respect.

It used to be marriage. But since the Supreme Court essentially voided marriage in '72 (by it the only contract that could be canceled unilaterally by one party at any time just because they wanted to) even marriage doesn't secure the relationship anymore. Now there's nothing that secures the relationship.

Nothing. There's never any security in a relationship. The moment one of the parties wants out, it's over, no matter how many houses, cars, mortgages, kids, dogs, cats, credit cards and wedding rings you have

I think it's the commitment between the two. No legal papers will keep two people together. It's the degree of love and commitment one has to each other...and the willingness to make it work.
