  • I do it everyday..
  • I don't think it is, I have known many Men that do it all the time. Look at the Chip and Dales.
  • Feminists dont, and I dont think many women are stripping in order to restore the balance of power between men and women. Feminists are for equality, and stripping, some people believe, reinforces the dogma of women being mere sex objects, and tools of amusement. Some women would argue that the freedom to strip rather than be censored is one that is theirs, and they do it for freedom, although, I think it reinforces the sex object role, and there are much better things women can do for the movement....some girls just want to take their clothes off, and show off, to men AND women.
  • No, I consider it something that degrades women even further. Even if you're seducing by doing that and showing off your femininity, you're still meat.
  • Nope, it's just entertainment for male gratification.
  • A very emphatic most definitely not. There's a lot of stuff out there that people say is "empowering" and "feminist" but it's just patriarchy, oppression and degradation repackaged - nothing empowering or feminist about it at all. Stripping in and of itself isn't anti-feminist... but 99.99% of cases it's either out of desperation, or reinforcing the idea of woman as object, or slotting very nicely into the system even if the stripper isn't trying to do anything wrong.
  • No, and remember there are many male strippers
  • Nah, more of a capitolist act.
  • It can be considered as such. For hundreds of years, men have tried to control the sexuality of women. Even today, when you hear of fathers wanting their daughters to dress 'tastefully' and to 'preserve' themselves for marriage, that symbolises the incestuous, quasi-religious oppression of woman's sexuality. Completely ignoring male strippers for the moment, stripping is in many cases a woman taking control of her sexuality and using it to advance her position in life. Unfortunately, many men (and women working on the side of these men) have not taken to this act of empowerment kindly and have used stripping to further counter the growing power of feminism and are forcing women to work in these jobs, thus reversing the power play. Male strippers can be seen as good examples of male feminists - taking inspiration from the female sexual emancipation and furthering themselves in that regard.
  • No! it's the complete opposite... stripping is an act that symbolises men seeing women as a sex object, and it is degrading to the woman... how is that feminist?
  • Stripping doesn't have any particular connection with feminism in any way that I know of.
  • Nope. Sorry - stripping is not "brave." It is an act that requires a woman to subjugate herself to the wishes of a male to make money. Therefore I conclude it is one level higher than prostitution. That the strip club managers don't scout out potential victims has no bearing. Indeed, many strippers get sucked in by "amateur nights." It is indeed selling oneself. No matter how you slice it.
  • Only if you do it right! :)
