    its jeremy bentham but you've got him mis-quoted.

    - “It is the greatest good to the greatest number of people which is the measure of right and wrong.”

    - "The greatest happiness of the greatest number is the foundation of morals and legislation”

    You could look up "greatest happiness" and "utilitarianism" and maybe look at some j.s. mill.

    spock person, i greive that you might think that spock's charater is who came up with this. i'm going to assume you just mean that in our culture spock is a good example of a character applying rigorous logic to every situation.
