  • We are accountable for everything but if we always ask for forgiveness and try not to do it again, honestly, then we can be forgiven. We were bordn sinners, or less than perfect. It isn't easy trying to be 'good' and do 'good' things. God knows that and is there to help and forgive.
  • I believe that we are accountable. We are told to take every thought captive. 2Co 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. The way we do this is moment by moment thought by thought transforming ourselves to the image of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Ro 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
  • What "higher power"? We are responsible for our OWN thoughts words and actions. I don't believe in giving credit for all the good things we do to some "higher power", and putting the blame of all our misgivings on some "demon/devil".
  • of course we are
  • Define "accountable". I do think that everything you do or think, for good or evil, God will give back to you, whether in this life or in the next one.
  • Well, there are three alternatives to the scenario you described. You choose. 1) That there is no higher powwer to which we are accountable which would mean no creator, no helper, no God who lovesd and cares for us. 2) That there is a higher powwer, but we are not accountable which would lead one to question how much higher this sort of power is. 3) That there is a higher power to whom we are acountable, but only for some thoughts and deeds, which would leave us to question which ones were important enough for us to be evaluated on. Otherwise, there is a higher power, which was one of your premises, thus eliminating the first alternative. Furthermore, we are accountable to the higher power for everything. That leaves us to understand in what ways were are accountable and whether or not our higher power has made provisions for grace, forgiveness, mercy, and growth so that we can develop beyond our negative thoughts and behaviors to become something wonderful that we were intended to become. At that point, Christianity has some powerful and very good news.
  • Yes In His service, <:))))<>< "My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge." Psalm 62:7
  • I believe so. When I signed up (so to speak), I gave all of me to the Lord, including my thoughts, words and deeds. That doesn't mean I'm perfect (far fro it) but He's working on it. :-)
  • No. I believe that we are accountable to *Ourselves* for our thoughts and deeds, but considering the capacity of our own minds to put us through hellish guilt and pain because of our mistakes, I'd say that our own moral and emotional centers are "Higher Power" enough.
