Your puppy needs discipline. Dogs are pack animals. In their litters, they establish pecking orders. If they are taken too young from the litter, they do not know where they stand in authority, and also do not know manners. That is where their owners must realise a truth: the humans of the house must always outrank the dog and the dog needs to learn that truth if it is to function as a member of the pack. Get your pup into obedience classes straight away. It is just as important for you, as it is for him. All dogs need discipline and then affection. They are a pack animal and you need to be the pack leader. The pack leader would never let another dog bite and hurt it. You must shhh or growl and poke the puppy like you were it's mother and distract it to stop that behavior. And stop it immediately, not when you see it get too rough. And do it with calm attitude, no anger at all, no frsutration. Just calm energy to show YOU are pack leader.

How OLD is your puppy? From ages 12 weeks (3 months)to age 8 to 10 months MOST puppies benefit from being fed 3 times a day...you just break the total daily amount of food needed into three small meals. Also, it is the HUMAN'S responsibility to PUPPY PROOF the house. Like all babies a puppy WILL pick up just about anything they see..this is normal, and unfortunately can be dangerous for the puppy and for things you value! Puppies start to teeth at about 4 months of age and you can depend upon them being especially oral while they are cutting their permanent teeth! Until your puppy is 100% house trained, you should NEVER ALLOW the puppy to be loose in your house unless someone is actively keeping an eye ON the puppy. This helps you PREVENT potty accidents. Every accident the puppy is allowed to have is counter productive to the puppy understanding that THIS ACTIVITY needs to be done OUTSIDE so the pup earns the Treat and Praise and learns to take all potty needs outside! Don't make this harder and more work for yourselves and the pup! As the puppy matures and you begin (like right now, already please!) to train it...you will include the command LEAVE IT and DROP IT...both support the dog NOT touching things you want left alone, or even trash you see when out for a walk that appeals to the sense of smell to the dog, but YOU DON'T WANT them nosing or touching! I have always been able to leave a plate of MY food where my assorted dogs COULD reach it...and simply say "Don't touch that!" and leave the room...most of the time the dog follows me out as if to say..."I wasn't even in the same room with it...CAT must have done it!" (naw..kidding but you get the picture) For the biting, have acceptable, safe puppy toys available, when the puppy goes for the human hand, arm, you place the toy in the puppy's mouth...if that doesn't work...the toy is refused...STAND UP and ignore the pup for about 2 minutes...(Don't leave the pup unattended...don't want any potty accidents...but STOP THE GAME...STOP THE FUN. This is what teaches them, and it's how their Mom dog would do it.) Puppies removed before they are about 8 to 12 weeks DON'T learn this important lesson from their Mother and siblings, so then WE have to teach it! Happy Tails...good luck!
