"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" was the name given to a flying car, invented by Caractacus Potts, (played by Dick Van Dyke, in the film), in the novel of the same name. The name was onomatopoeic, for the sound of its engine. The author was Ian Fleming, who also created 'James Bond.'
