As a part of the Supremes. Her subtle vocals and diction defined a new breakthough cross over sound for that era. The Supremes sessions made the solo career possible. Not sure she would have had the same success if she broke out as a solo artist first.

Either way. i believe she let her group completely down, by exiting the group. Was this greed? Tina Turner also exited her drug-addict husband(he played guitar in some of the first Tina Turner hit songs) This turned out absolutely great for her. Like i said, either way for Diana Ross.
