  • Because God would certainly never let anything like that happen. ;)
  • You can't! That is why religion is dependent on faith.
  • Good Question. God wouldn't let lots of stuff happen if He were concerned about details. He just looks at the big picture, waiting to see just how bad we're gonna get. The Bible was written by men, not God, not Jesus. It was written to serve the purposes of men. What better way to control the masses?? It is full of wonderful things, the Bible, but God probably dictated zilch of it.
  • You pose a great question. These things you describe could of happened. But they didn't, and here's why. Not only did God inspire men to write. He also created a living breathing church that has been here for 2000 years. This church verifies what was written as truthfull, with the help of the Holy Spirit choose which books belong, and has keep it truthfull to this day. Long before there was a printing press this church copied it by pen and paper. No other so called church can verify the Bible because they simply weren't here. This church has always had a leader on earth. Just like Peter was after Jesus died. Do some research and you'll see why there has to be a living authority along with the Bible. Hope this was helpfull. Thanks
  • Too Easy. If you were making up something would you die for it? That's just what Paul, John, and I can't remember who else did. They knew that Jesus was Lord and when faced with the question to denounce their faith and live or keep it and die they choose to die.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." Second Peter 1:21 says that men "moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." Scriptures were written by about 40 different men that lived in several different countries. They all lived at different times form 1400 B.C. to A.D 90. The Bible was written by eye witnesses during the time of other eye witnesses. The Church stands firm still today, the focus being the Scriptures because they are truth.
  • For starters there have been many kings down the ages who have certain parts of the bible be changed to how they wanted it. And when the first parts were been written, the Romans had no idea that it was speaking good of Jesus. They wanted it to speak badly of him.
  • I can never be sure because people who translated the bible were all human and im sure they put some of their own thoughts... because of this and many other illogical things i just believe in god and in no religion.
  • By reading the Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, the original languages.
  • Simple - you learn to read Hebrew and Greek just like every other seminary student and Biblical scholar, and then you can judge for yourself how faithful any translation is.
  • How can we be sure the Bible has not been changed? “In the number of ancient MSS. [manuscripts] attesting a writing, and in the number of years that had elapsed between the original and the attesting MSS., the Bible enjoys a decided advantage over classical writings [those of Homer, Plato, and others]. . . . Altogether classical MSS. are but a handful compared with Biblical. No ancient book is so well attested as the Bible.”—The Bible From the Beginning (New York, 1929), P. Marion Simms, pp. 74, 76. A report published in 1971 shows that there are possibly 6,000 handwritten copies containing all or part of the Hebrew Scriptures; the oldest dates back to the third century B.C.E. Of the Christian Greek Scriptures, there are some 5,000 in Greek, the oldest dating back to the beginning of the second century C.E. There are also many copies of early translations into other languages. In the introduction to his seven volumes on The Chester Beatty Biblical Papyri, Sir Frederic Kenyon wrote: “The first and most important conclusion derived from the examination of them [the papyri] is the satisfactory one that they confirm the essential soundness of the existing texts. No striking or fundamental variation is shown either in the Old or the New Testament. There are no important omissions or additions of passages, and no variations which affect vital facts or doctrines. The variations of text affect minor matters, such as the order of words or the precise words used . . . But their essential importance is their confirmation, by evidence of an earlier date than was hitherto available, of the integrity of our existing texts.”—(London, 1933), p. 15. It is true that some translations of the Bible adhere more closely to what is in the original languages than others do. Modern paraphrase Bibles have taken liberties that at times alter the original meaning. Some translators have allowed personal beliefs to color their renderings. But these weaknesses can be identified by comparison of a variety of translations
