  • The people that buy that crap are the real criminals.
  • This story about road kill and euthanised animals is URBAN MYTH. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17728426/site/newsweek/page/2/#storyContinued I answered a similar question yesterday. Here is the text: The fecal matter would come from the viscera (intestines etc) of dead animals. While this sounds abominable to us, dogs are pack animals and pack animals, in the wild, go for the soft underbelly to kill. To a dog, this is great stuff. As for the euthanised animals and road kill, although many sites are quoting this online, it appears to be urban myth. http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_133193705.html did a check and could not find any companies that did this. Before we go beserko about what our pets eat, remember that they are domesticated versions of wild animals. In the wild, they eat all manner of things, including animals that die of disease or die from accidents (the wild equivalent of road kill). That is the way they live and they like the taste. I would not give my cat road kill, but if she finds a dead bird, she will eat it, and she is 14 years old and going strong. She eats whole mice, down they go in one gulp, fecal matter and all. At least when I feed her canned pet food, it has been cooked and (hopefully) contains no germs. Unlike what she would choose for herself if given the choice. We really have to stop trying to anthropomoprhise our animals. We cannot expect that they eat the same as we do, and that they should be kept from things we would not eat. Their guts are quite different from ours, and take a variety of different things quite happily, including bones, viscera etc By making them to conform to what we want them to eat, we are actually harming them. They do not get the vegetable matter from the gut of the prey, they do not get the calcium from the bones. That is one reason why animals are not as healthy these days, and display some hip and bone diseases their ancestors did not.
  • If it is true then karmically the worst are the companies that do the act, though the law makers do not escape karmic repercussions.
