• Yes I think the little things make a difference as if we cannot get them right or if they matter not to us, it reflects what kind of person we are inside regardless of what we may want to forward to others.
  
  The principle of you're suggestion is the cause of many problems in the world.
  To avoid this, letting go should only happen upon reaching a recognised conclusion, which would normally be either mutual agreement, or admission of error, if neither of these has occurred then continued reasoning to get to a successful conclusion is the only right way forward so that all concerned benefit from the process.
  
  It would seem that you are unprepared to either admit error or further reason on this matter which only encourages confusion and adds to the problem, you no doubt prefer not to face where it may lead, one can only conclude the reason why, while using this to add to the picture of that person.

• @Shunyata, Are not doomsday preppers simply people that have prepared for what could well take place, whether physically, spiritually or in many cases both. So do you really feel being well prepared for such would be equal to having no life?, as it seems to me to be a very sensible thing to have done, and would indicate more of a respect for the gift of life and its continuation.

  IMO, allow me to explain, we can only live fully in the now. dooms day preppers are scared to death of what "might happen in the future".
  I watch this documentary, several series on two...about dooms day preppers. preposterous at best.
  big business, too.
  No one can ever be prepared for everything.
  You got 1 gun and they come into your hosue with 5 assault weapons.
  You have 5 assault weapons but they come while you sleep.
  I mean they build these bunkers, which are many times not water, or fire proof. they definitely are many times not nuke proof.
  then I saw their air filter systems are faulty. it's laughable....
  I mean honestly I was very mindful about watching these shows...
  do I have a "plan" and also "plan 2, and 3" for eventualities? yes.
  Do I have food storage and a pocket water filter..yes... but these people spent the price of a house on their "future imagined what happens fear." we are not our body.... I have to remind myself daily. we are spirits in a human body.
  the preppers wasting a lot of fun life time worrying about if they are prepared enough.
  Maybe we can discuss this further. I am really interested in your view and will listen respectively.

  reality is we are NOT ever prepared for all eventualities.
  The gov is. they have uderground (80 million gallon of water source) and bunkers that hold 30.000 people ( their friends and loved ones). they have prepped for EVERYHTING with tax money. Nothing like the preppers do.

  Mindfulness, living in the now, being caring and sharing is important.

  I discern what I have in the house in case of emergency, but I know we cannot be prepared for ALL eventualities.

• @Shunyata, I think your view of “doomsday peppers” may be a little naïve, generalised, and based more on what the evil box in the corner wants you to believe, I certainly do not fear the future as you suggest, but knowing what I do scripturally, having limited physical or spiritual provisions would be a big mistake to make with what is to come.
  
  Did not Jesus say as in the days of Noah?, was Noah purely to rely on God in spirit or did God expect him to dirty his hands and build an ark?, thus saving himself and his family from his own work under Gods direction. I seem to remember most scoffed then also, so be careful.
  
  To be honest I'm always amused at how many people choose to scoff at what comes down to preparation, the person who is prepared for more is able to help more, should that not be the place any God fearing person would choose to be given the chance, in a better position to help others?, if we did not do are utmost to at least try and make our position the best we could, would not this be a reflection upon our real attitude toward helping others the second greatest command of God?
  
  I agree we may not be able to be ready for everything but I think the point here would be to make the best of whatever we have or can get, what more could be expected, what less should be!.

• Ah but Shunyata, TV doesn't truly reflect what happens in real life. I say this because I knew several so called "Doomsday Preppers" as portrayed on TV and they're nothing like they make them seem on TV nor do their ideas include paranoia or predicting the future Nostradamus style. There's several groups out here in Cali, mostly in the towns of Mira Loma, Fontana, and some areas of Moreno Valley and I can tell you, their whole purpose is to learn how to be self sufficient and survive and thrive without assistance from the Government and commodities we have around today. TV is a big farce, just a money making machine that will distort anything to squeeze money out of it. Of course, not saying there aren't paranoid people out there planning for the next 2012, Y2K, or even Nibiru or an Alien Invasion, but they are really not in the majority.

  I am far from naive.
  I have in the greatest detail not only informed myself but also know
  what to do in various cases. (I HAVE STUDIED the matter and what to do when
  for 11 years)
  yes I grow a lot of my own food, and got other food from little private farmers.
  Yes I have water filters ( small) which can even clear muddy water, yes I have tons of food in can sealed containers...( freez dried) etc.which could help 4 peopel to survive 2 years.
  I also know every water hole in the rocky Mt 300 miles around me, and it would always be unwise to use any hiking path or street IF you have to leave. You have to know how to survive waking through countryside in case you have to leave your abode, and what would be needed to leave from where you are or if you can hole down.
  
  those ridiculously insufficient bunkers they spend a house price on are riciculously inefficient.They do not teach to survive but to crawl into a hole.
  
  those are "dooms day preppers". I am not.
  I know how and what to do in various arising possible emergency situations and how to take care of myself and other, even with medical supplies....Here, in wilderness, or in an area of catastrophe.

• I find it hard to understand your analysis of the title “doomsday prepper”
  Your description of your own preparations would without doubt come under that title. “doomsday prepper” or in other words any kind of preparation for any possible disaster.
  I'm really unsure why you feel the need to separate that which has no need to be, or even distance yourself from what your description clearly defines you as.
  Are you worried about being stereotyped due to TV shows etc., I really see no reason for you to be, its those who fail to prepare who should more likely have need to worry, and names alone mean very little.
  
  Doomsday - “any day of reckoning” “an unpleasant or disastrous destiny”.
  
  Prepper – form the word “preparation” “an individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of or prior to, any change in normal circumstances”.
  
  Does that not fit your own description of yourself?.
  
  I'd go as far to say, by correct definition and especially with living in such uncertain times, it would be quite foolish not to consider ourself in word and deed as a “doomsday prepper”, regardless of what others may think.

  Whatever Shunyata is trying to say here it is not being understood well, at the very least appears contradictory, and without being retracted or further explained, only leaves the impression of being wrong yet unwilling to be admitted.

  In a nutshell I am saying : yes be aware, be prepared, be aware of all possibilities, but don't crawl under the bed in paranoia as the doomsday preppers do, build bunkers which are actually ridiuclously inefficient.
  I havevery clearlt explained my stance above. I neither am naive, nor foolish nor confused, nor contradicting myself, nor wrong etc.
