  • It varies by state but usually the answer is yes. Many states that allow you to practice law without attending law school have some sort of requirement such as studying law privately with a judge or something. My personal belief is that this is a throw back. I know three women who are now in their 80s who became lawyers this way because at the time the law schools in their area would not admit women.
