  • I would look up that name online to see if it's legit. Don't get too excited, If they ask for money from you first, it's A SCAM!
  • BEWARE!! If you get money from a stranger and you are supposed to do anything other than cash the check and enjoy it, it's a scam. If you are supposed to send ANYONE any money it is a scam! Take the check to your bank and ask them to run a check on it.
  • Read the "check" you received (and all other accompanying documents) carefully. It probably states that by depositing the check, you are agreeing to subscribe to some service or agreeing to accept a loan of some sort. In essence, this "gift" or "prize" will actually get you into debt. It's unlikely you actually won any sort of prize, so unless you recall entering a contest and are able to verify the legitimacy of the company and the prize, DO NOTHING other than report this to a consumer protection agency and/or the local news. (By the way, I looked up "Nykelis & Thompson Financial" and NOTHING comes up. I find it unusual that a legitimate company would not have any presence or mention anywhere on the net.)
  • Yes. Did you take this poll? I'm guessing not... There was a story on Dateline I think about this. They would send you checks to cash, and then the bank would cash them because at first glance they look real. Then the person would spend the money, and the check doesn't clear so they have to give back this money they spent... Don't cash this check. I might suggest forwarding it on to the police department, or you can search online for where the most appropriate place to send it would be.
  • Tear it up and throw it away. you are not the only "winner'. there are many across the country. its a scam. you never get something for nothing. You can verify the check and it will be good for a short while. here's the catch. once you cash the check, the sender cancels payment on the check and you are stuck with owing the bank all that cash plus a service fee. Tear it up and throw it away.
  • I would answer yes it is a scam if you have the bank check to see if the funds exsist in the account the check was funded from you will see insufficient funds.what I have seen they will ask you for a payment to recieve the rest of your winnings.
  • hello I recieved a letter as well two days ago along with a check for $3,675.00 and this was to be deposited and would cover any application fees and 6% winnings which included deduted taxes on a poll survey winnings for a balance to be snt along with a certificate of entitlement and another lump sum of 58,825.00,had all the protocal laws, had to call them with claim #,then deposit check and wait for it to clear and call back to have the rest sent to me,went to bank today and they called bank of america and even though the check was real (I believe she said routing # was real but did not match with bank records so they are considering fraudelant ?.)but when I called company they never asked for any personal information and never asked me to buy anything or to send any money so I assume end result if I was to deposit I would have had to repay this money if I had deposited and used any ?.guess the bank is also faxing this check on to bank of america which was also on my check this had a redding,ca. address on it I live in kentucky. thanks and hope this also helps anyone out there.
  • I say scam also. We must really be careful when it comes to some generous person giving us money when we have no clue. Throw it in the garbage and forget about it.
  • SCAM!! I got one too (in Mass.). They want you to cash it then send it back(?) to get the rest. They are the only people getting rich. The 1-778-xxx-xxxx ext 1 number might cost you $500.00 or more on your phone bill. Contact the fraud web site.
  • It is a scam. Getting $62,000 from a Company you never heard of...there is no one on this planet "THAT" lucky. I receive weird e-mails like those almost every day.

  • Sounds dodgy, did you take a poll ?. Always remember if they want money from you to "process your reward" or whatever, its a con, bin it.
  • One way to investigate is to google something like (deceptive or fraudulent marketing schemes and offers) for a list of creditable sites that expose these kind of scams. Personally, I think the only business they're in is ripping off unassuming people. Long story short... never trust unsolicated offers of any kind. Nothing's free. Even when it says "free" you usually get stuck with shipping/handling, a trial membership that renews automatically, etc... Well, I hope you at least check out some web sites that report fraudulant practices before you get involved with these crooks.
  • SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • sounds like a scam to me.Never heard of that company
  • SCAM! BEWARE!!! This could be related to money laundering! Don't be a sucker!
  • Yes, this is a scam. I suggest calling your local authorities- maybe it will give them some information on how to catch these guys.
  • Yes, it's a scam! I've hard if this before. I don't remember exactly what'll happen, but you'll end up in debt and all kinds of legal hassles if you cash that check. If you want to risk it anyway, I'd open up a new checking account with a bank that I have no other business with and then deposit it there. Then just let the money sit there for a year or so before you touch any of it.
  • Big Time Scam.......... Tear it up and throw it away. The check is good for about 2 hours. Once you deposit the check into your account, they close the account, leaving you holding the bag. This is only front money and not yours.
  • a quick google search on the company name reveals that a) they are not real b) they have no website. what kind of financial company does not have a website? its a scam!
