  • I know this isn't helpful, but there was nowhere else to post... this is a great question. Just know that I gave you points, because people are going to get uppity about the word murder. I personally think it's a fantastic question. As for the downraters, feel free. I know it's not helpful to the question.
  • wow, 9 points, I expected this to get downrated like crazy...
  • There were no boats of any size at that time. the Ark was the first. That is why it created such a stir. It was enormous. In fact, the Titanic's specs were modelled on those of the Ark.
  • Boats would not have helped. The Ark was a structure that was designed by God and built by Noah to withstand the high water that covered the earth for a long time. As far as God murdering people, he had Noah preaching to society for 40 years and they chose to ignore a warning. Much like people today.
  • This question indicates very little knowledge of the Bible account of the flood and even less about God.
  • The bible is controversal and can be disputed on many levels. But if you read the bible and think how far back that was, they only talk about the middle east...not the rest of the world or the other continents for that matter. Man didnt even know the world was round until the 1400s. almost 2000 years after the bible was created....so...they could mean with in that area...another point is, if only noah and his family survived the flood, does that mean that incest occured to re-populate the world? As I said...it is very contoversal...;)
  • To call God a murderer is to show a very limited understanding of the Bible and of God. As another answer points out, Noah preached to the people for forty years trying to get them to repent, but they chose not to listen. In such situations, God does not expect people to simply take the word of an alleged prophet at face value. He expects us to ask Him for guidance as well. If we do this with a sincere heart, then He will confirm the words of the prophet. However, the people of Noah's day would not even do that. They simply dismissed him and refused to listen. So, they continued in their evil ways until they brought the judgments of God down on their own heads. Finally, God knows the intents of all of our hearts. Therefore, he knows what punishments are justified when. So, accusing the ultimate judge, the only being who is in a position to dispense absolute justice, of murder (the unjustified killing of people) shows a failure to even understand the nature of God.
  • shhh... you're not supposed to ask questions like that. But, when the isthmus at Istanbul collapsed during a major storm, allowing the Mediterranean Sea to flood a valley originally having a smallish lake and eventually creating the Black Sea, I'm sure it felt, to most folks, that the gods had unleashed the floods and all the world was flooded. Some, I'm sure, managed to make it to modern-day Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, or Russia... and they would have been the folks who told the story of the flood of the world... This story, of course, is based in scientific research and supported by hard facts. Most recent studies done by Bob Ballard. Because of this, fundamentalist interpreters will tell you it's a lie and untrue... blah blah. here's more information: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/blacksea/
  • how did noah, get to Australia to get seven sets of kangaroo, koala and wallabys, and to Africa to get elephants and girafes, and to the US to get armidillos? and how did he know the list was complete and what about all the insects, 100, 000 plus species of beetles alone? I guess Noah did not sleep in alot.
  • Termites.
  • "According to the Matsya Purana and Shatapatha Brahmana (I-8, 1-6), the mantri to the king of pre-ancient Dravida, Satyavata who later becomes known as Manu was washing his hands in a river when a little fish swam into his hands and begged him to save its life. He put it in a jar, which it soon outgrew; he successively moved it to a tank, a river and then the ocean. The fish then warned him that a deluge would occur in a week that would destroy all life. Manu therefore built a boat which the fish towed to a mountaintop when the flood came, and thus he survived along with some "seeds of life" to re-establish life on earth. Archaeologist MS Dhingra links this myth to a possible meteor impact event in the Indian Ocean. This impact may have occurred in 2084 BC." • Heh heh - good question. Maybe god lightning-ed holes into 'em all. So it's okay to murder everyone because Noah preached for a while? Hmmmm... Did he travel through Africa, China, Europe, the America's, Australia, New Zealand, all those little islands throughout the pacific, Asia and so on letting EVERYONE know? To take this story as literal truth is to mock the bible, mock human intelligence, mock any kind of logic, mock knowledge and heartily, enthusiastically embrace superstition and deliberate ignorance. Sadly, lots of folk appear to think that is a path to be celebrated!
  • I would like to add to that... WHY did God send his son Jesus to die for everyone's sins. It didn't seem to protect them from his wrath afterwards.. I may be stupid, but I do not get it. If God is so mighty, why not just forgive anything he called sin, and save his son??
