  • Of course they can, but it will not solve the problem - they only cover up the symptoms (usually). If you really want to get rid of them, get a good cognitive therapist-counselor and also your doctor can give you medication while you need it until you can prevent and control the anxiety symptoms yourself. You can do it without medications, and many have. But you also need a counselor or therapist who is familiar with anxiety disorders to work with you and help you. Good luck! Many have gotten over anxiety-panic disorder with help. But medications only is not ever going to do anything but get you addicted to tranquilizers. Get to the bottom of them and work with someone who knows how to help you really get over having them!
  • Yes. Paxil. It works. By RX only.
  • Yes, go see your doctor. They may prescribe a good anti-anxiety medication. They may also give you some exercises/techniques you can do to help you with your panic attacks.
  • The immediate treatment for panic attacks is to focus and take some slow deep breaths. I used to find that a really positive internal pep talk was helpful too. The mantra, 'all things pass, this will pass, just hold on a little while and this will pass' was VERY useful. The time it took to say it to myself a dozen times was usually time enough to calm down. I'd avoid medication for panic attacks, but that is a personal opinion. They can be very well managed with cognitive therapy.
  • My sister is taking Buspirone twice daily and she has not had an attack while on it.She swears by it
  • Yes there is
  • You can also treat them with vitamins, my brother did. We went to GNC and they have over the counter stuff that really worked. Unfortunately I don’t remember what he took but the salesperson told him what would work and it did.
