  • You can't really fight this unless you are able to vote in some new board members with a different attitude.
  • There was an article written not too long ago that I saw discussing this issue. Because the state I live in is in the desert the high temps. will cause the door opener to overheat and not work. Thus explaining why some people only leave thier door open about 2 inches. If you live in an area with very hot temps. you can use this as a reason for not completely closing it. If this doesn't help try searching for newspaper articles.
  • does it cause you a problem to close it?
  • Shut it before people steal from your garage. Personal experience right here.
  • And your problem is what? Or do you just enjoy being contrary. Close the damn door.
  • Home Owners Associations are fascists; what they say goes. You can petition it through their channels, but you'll likely have to keep that door closed.
  • When you moved into the community, you signed an agreement to abide by the rules. If you want to change the rules, you have to become a member of the HOA and try to get enough other members to agree with you. It will be a very tough battle, because most home owners agree that garage doors should be closed at all times, not only because it is unsightly, but because of the danger from criminals.
  • ill bet your garage is full of crap, no one wants to look at that! have some respect for your neighbors!
  • Tell em to F)$k off.
  • It is an eyesore. Keep it closed or risk the loss of some of its contents. That is the OTHER good reason for keeping it shut. If you still wish to fight this, take it up at your next HOA board meeting. Expect much laughter and pointing.
  • Move to a house that's not in an HOA. I don't know how anyone can deal with that kind of stuff.
  • To me I would always keep my garage door closed, because that is another way a burglar can enter your home. safety issue more than a unsightly issue
  • I would try to get along with everyone. If you can. Why would you want to escalate such a small matter. The way I see it most people are tit for tat. Thats human nature. So my advice would be to stay away from them. Maybe get some more space somewhere else if you really need it or park one car in another area. Seems to me like you have a space issue. I would not blame it on the board or even try to fight it. For $60 bucks a month you can get some nice storage space. Maybe even much less.
