Why do so many people like football (soccer) when the game could end without any of the players making a goal?

• I mean, it's not like basketball where you see a spectacular hoop one after the other, or American football where you'll find real action.

  I find soccer a little boring watching all of them running up and down the field accomplishing nothing!

• Each to their own i suppose!
  But in games like basketball its almost inevitable what will happen next, "One team scores, the other team scores" with the occasional rejection :P
  Football can take a spark of genious to kick a game into life!

• Don't you feel cheated when you go out of the stadium and the score in the game that just ended is 0-0?

• You get a point for a 0-0 draw...
  One point can be the difference between winning the league and losing it!
  I personally dont feel cheated unless the team haven't tried, i cannot stand to see professionals not putting their all into a game

• After running up and down the field for more than and hour, not to mention getting paid truck loads of money, they won't even score a single goal! How can you call them professionals?

  i understand where your coming from, and i too am against the amount of money they get paid,theoretically though, their is no guarentee that someone is going to score in basketball?
  People surely have to appreciate the physical and mental toughness needed to play football. Professional Footballers can do things with a football that you and i could never dream of doing!

• There are times when I see players kicking the ball to a totally random direction. Most of the time, an opponent gets the ball. All this happens while the fans are cheering like there's no tomorrow.
  Don't worry, watching football is still a few notches above watching golf on TV in my list.
