I have a friend in Tennessee who is pursuing an education, pardon and hopefully be admitted to the bar. I researched this question when he was incarcerated and we discovered that Ohio has at least four felons serving as public defenders. U of Cincinnati has admitted these students (Jesuit university) and my friend was accepted at several law schools. Write me if you need further information dramey53@yahoo.com
