I was reading through the responses you have gotten so far and I agree with a lot of them.. a lot of guys do not cheat and a lot of women DO cheat.. but I am wondering if you have just found out your partner has cheated on you and you came here to vent and just ask the "why" did he cheat question more than just focusing on only men cheating.
People cheat for many different reasons.. but one thing you CAN be sure of is.. it is NOT YOU or your fault.
Even if a relationship has reached the end of the road.. out of respect for themselves.. the person who wishes to move on.. should end the relationship they are in before they move on.

Two reasons:
1.Because they're bored with you and the sex you are ( or aren't) giving him. (sorry ladies).
2. Because-even though you're a hot woman and are satisfying him fully- his male vanity and ego needs the extra validation he gets when he can bed another women. (the guy who succumbs to this is an A- hole) .
Also, in office environments, there are many young, attractive single women (I've seen it happen over and over) who will not hesitate to seduce a married man who is older and has a power position in the company.

Many different reasons:
- Some just have a personality where they are narccisistic and think they deserve and can get anything they want
- Some may have been not getting their needs met and instead of breking it off they went somewhere else to get it (whether it be emothinal or physical)
- Some are weak and have no will power when presented with temptation
- Some dont really care about the people they are with and the fact that they would be devistated by their actoins

Because the one thing that women seem unable to understand is that the life long monogamy thing is an unatural state of affirs for men, the higher the testosterone the harder it is for us. You only have to watch shows like rikki lake to see women howling at men for not living up to thier expectations of us. Often for men and women adherence to the ridiculous life long monogamy nonsense actually means no sex at all at some point in the marriage. Why people put themselves thru that is beyond me, why not renegotiate the relationship at the point when extreme familiarity has killed desire? Gay people do it quite a lot and continue in thier relationships. in the straight world its a taboo cos every one is taught to think that life long monogamy is right and everything else is wrong.
Whose rules are they? they are certainly arent mine. My relationships are discussed and agreed, no assumption about compliance with one of societies ridiculous rules exists.

Some guys are just sex crazy so they have no self control when they are offered sex
Some guys date a women purly for their looks then when that inital short term attraction dies down there isnt enough emotional and personality attraction to keep them interested so they get bored
Some guys end up dating a women who for no medical or emotional reason think that have sex once a month or even longer is perfectly normal or have the attiude that sex is a chore that she has to do to get over with as soon as possible

They are superficial and if they can't get sex or as much as they want or the kind they want or with the one they want, they will cheat and/or go for someone is new and get lewd. I think you could say half of the blame lies with the wife, for it is her "job" to satisfy him and give him what he wants, though it is not just about him, but her as well. If she does her "job", he shouldn't cheat. However, this shouldn't overlap into dating, for sex within marriage is right whereas pre and extra marital marriage is not "God's best", as Joel Osteen says.

I dont cheat. Its the lazy way out of a bad situation. If I cant be with a girl anymore, I break it off. Thats the way it should be. I guess everyone has their own reasons for cheating. I've read that for men, the primary reason is sexual and for women, it's emotional. Although, a recent article I read stated that the rate of women cheating has almost equaled that of men, and that more and more women are cheating for sexual reasons. I honestly have no idea why anyone cheats. If the person you are with doesn't fully satisfy you, then leave them. Pretty simple in my book. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
