  • Each CC is different, but they usually give you one "free pass" on a late payment... I went thru hell with them, first I was in europe for 6 weeks, left blank checks for my family to pay my bills, and they missed one CC bill, and then later someone put my statement somewhere, and when I found it, it was past due, and just now I mailed my payment, 2 days before due date, but it came there two days late, had to fight them to remove the late fee, other card gives me 7 day grace period...
  • My credit score is over 800 and I occasionally miss a payment by a few days every now and then. It doesn't seem to have had a negative impact. Don't make a habit of it, but if you do it once every couple of years it doesn't seem to hurt, especially if you are normally very good about all your payments.
  • First, fix it immediately. If you allow it to continue in this way you will lose your good score. You've got to take control and get it paid on time! Second, call the credit card company and ask them to remove the late fee. Many times a company will do this if you come up with a good reason! Also, try to be on time from now on! Once you take out a card, you sign a contract saying you will pay on time or you can be charge fees and also your interest rate can go way too high by being late, so pay your cards on time or you'll lose your good rates and you'll acquire huge fees! Get your finaces in control now, or you'll be in credit hell for 7 years! Good Luck!
  • This will not negatively effect your score. The credit score is all about trends and propensity to pay. Anomalies are ignored. Plus, was it 30 days late or just past due (2 different things completely)? Pay it, call the card company and ask if they will remove the late fee.
