  • I don't see why not. I'm planning on taking my 2 rats with me from columbus ohio to st.louis missouri and I expect them to live the 7 hr drive. Just give them enough food and a full water bottle and I'm almost positive they'll make it.

  • I don't think so. I don't think he can see over the steering wheel or reach the pedals. Just kidding !! It should be fine if it has a container with plenty of ventalation, food & water & try to be as gentle as possible to keep it's stress level at a minimum.
  • Sure. Try to keep the majority of the driving during the day, as the hamster will be sleeping for most of the time. I recommend putting the hamster cage in a box or something and covering it gently with a towel, to keep it warm and minimize your hamster getting scared. Stress is one of the primary killers of hamsters, so make everything as comfortable as possible. My hammie routinely survives the 5 hour trip to her Grandparent's home.
  • Yes. They don't need to make pit stops to eat and pee.
  • Only if he has someone to take over driving every couple of hours. If you intend to do all the driving he will be fine. He'll kick back and snooze.
  • He could try but you'd have to get him a very small car and really good directions;)
  • *Not* tied to the bumper! ;-)
  • You will have to ask the hamster in question whether it actually wants to make the road trip. I have heard that some hamsters prefer to go by bus and others like to fly.
  • Hamsters love road trips. Be sure to let him pick the music now and then.
  • Sure, no problem. Just hook up the wheel in the cage to your alternator and in 9 hours you might actually travel about 4-5 inches.
  • If you provide a nice cage (nobody should spend 9 hours in a shoebox) with proper refreshments the little guy should be okay. The best thing would be to let him sleep. He should be OK
  • I am not sure it would get very far unless it has learned the Green Cross Code.
  • hello, hamsters are fragile animals, idoubt it that theyd be safe in a car with theyre cage,a car makes a lot of turns and the bumps arent good for the little guy,it makes them nervous, and its quite stressful.
  • strap the cage with the seat belt so it wont move and make sure they can't see, so put a towel over their cage. I think they will be fine.
  • Certainly, if it is fed, has adequate water for hydration and not placed in the trunk of a car where it could freeze, in winter, or bake, in summer, or get gassed by C02. It will take about nine hours.
  • Ask Richard Gere.
