I would say no. Scientists are calling for another harsh hurricane season this year. If global warming continues at it's current rate then storms are just going to become more fierce and prevalent.

G'day Anonymous, Thank you for your question. It all depends on what you see as the future of New Orleans. If you consider that it will rebuild, then I would look at buying property there as you would be able to get it for a good price. As for the hurricanes, it was the poor state of preparedness in terms of levees that caused the most damage. It might well be 60 or 70 years before an hurricane that bad hits New Orleans. If you live in New Orleans or would like to do so, now may well be a good time to buy property provided you have confidence in the future of the city. Regards

its not an expensive housing market there so that's good. the levees are not fixed properly so that's bad. its an amazing city with great food, great entertainment and a great culture so all of that is good.

I bet you can find a number of available homes there with a nice breezeway and and indoor pool..... For real if you buy in N.O. pay great attention to the elevation of the property.
