No, but the goal of the religion is.

I think the premise is the same, for the most part. There's always this great power than themselves, who seems to grant "wishes", and is selective on who gets to be with them in the afterlife. While I realise my answer is very pessimistic, I'm not knocking religions, but putting it in a way that makes sense to me.

Similar, all linked to eachother, yet there are differences that make them unique. Like people.
-
Yes. Religion started as a way to dictate rules to people. to control the masses as it were. The idea of an all pwerfull being watching our everyomove was enought to keep people in line. As people grew weary new rules "came from god". In modern society religion servers the purpose of giving hope and "salvation" to those who feel they need it. It also answers the question "where do we go when we die" for some. So in a sense it still acts as a set of rules for people to obey so they can have eternal life...

i think every1 is valued to there on opion about religion. some people think some religions are better than others but thats entirely their opinion
-
No, most started from the same source, but man has changed them over time to suite their needs and circumstances, they are simular but not the same. for example MY religion " NORMAN-CATHOLIC" that has not changed one bit since its origen ( yesterday) however next year at this time....It may heve ""evolved into something totally different..:) ( wine, women and rock n roll) (kidding:)..no wine gives me a head-ache... (beer) good question though:)

No, I know that there are exceptions to any generality that I may offer, however I feel that most religions are the same in one aspect. They acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being or Power. Those beliefs that do not profess a Supreme Being or Power are more frequently described as self-deification religions. By this I mean believers can become (a) God if they behave in a prescribed way.

No, I do not think all religions are the same. Obviously they have key themes that link them together and which leads them to be classified as 'religions' but I don't think you could argue all religions are exactly the same because they clearly aren't. At the end of the day, the differences in beliefs are what split the religions apart. If they were all the same then there would be no reason for the labels of 'Christianity', 'Islam', 'Hinduism' etc. Even people within religions don't have to follow all the same common beliefs, look at the huge amount of denominations of Christianity for example. Most religions are similar in some way, but they are not all the same.
-
If religion is studied at all, then the truth is evident - they all have a common theme. There is a spiritual leader, such as Jesus, Buddha, and even the Great Spirit of the American Indians. Religion to me is simply rules to live by. All religions in their pure form advocate non-violence, love of your neighbor, and doing good works...

No, they're all founded on the same basic principles and ideals, and they all aspire to the same goals, but they are different in how they interperet the ideals and what they believe they must do to achieve the goal. We all want basically the same thing, peace, love, and some hope for a better existance, be it in this life or some theoretical "Next life" , we just can't ever seem to agree on the "Right" way to get it.

Thank god, no!
-
No, not at all. Most Christian religions are basically the same and the same holds true for most other religions like Judaism, Islam, etc. There are variation within the main religion but the sects or denominations are essentially the same. But the differences between the religions is often vast.
-
They do have one thing in common: faith. But they are not all the same, otherwise they wouldn't go around killing each other.
-
yes they just all have different customs
-
Not anymore than all humans are the same. In His service, <:))))<>< "My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge." Psalm 62:7
-
all but atheist. All religions believe in one superior being.Call it God or some other name. God said he was known by many names. So I guess it doesn't matter the name its the faith that counts.
-
I beleive they are similar to the point that they are all responsible for the division of people. (no offense intended)
-
They cannot be because they are all individual, similarities do not make uniformity!
-
No, but like all things, they can be categorized by similarities. Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and in a way, Zoroastrianism) Dharma religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism) Taoic religions (Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Yiguandao, Chondogyo, Caodaism, Jeungism, Chen Tao, and elements of Mahayana Buddhism) Animistic religions (Wicca and other neo-pagan, pagan, or nature spirit beliefs.) And, of course, "other", such as Scientology.
-
No they are not all the same, but if you look at it in a very basic way they are all VERY similar.
