  • No, I don't think so.
  • Interesting question. It seems in this vast universe, the chances of another star like the sun existing the same distance from a planet similar to our earth would be likely. But then you get into the whole evolution/religion creation thing. I'd like to think yes.
  • I suppose that it's possible...
  • According to the Drake Equation, there is a possibility that their are 10,000 alien civilizations in this galaxy that are equal to our own. The problem with finding them however is not easy. Scientists have been scanning the skys for years with radio telescopes listening for similar signals from that produced by man. None so far have ever been detected, but if there is intelligent life out there, SETI will be the first to give the official notice. However, perhaps alien technology doesn't communicate or work the way human technology does, for all we know, the universe could be sparse with laser beams, transferring data across the universe at the speed of light, I doubt a radio telescope would pick up that type of transmission and I highly doubt our current technology is capable of recieving or capturing such transmissions. We are talking about 10,000 possible civilization, some of these civilization could be well over 2 million years old, mankind would have no choice but to be humbled by those far advanced species, compare to our meager 275,000 year existance. There are countless billions of galaxys, and the Drake equation is applicable to all of them, every single one. Our own Milky Way is full of billions of stars, and we lack the ability to see the other side of our own galaxy. The distance across our own galaxy is immense, so immense it confounds the human mind. If you looked at a standard sized poster of our galaxy, our planet would fall through the fibers of the paper which it is imprinted on, that's how small and fragile we truly are. Even if we did discover an intelligent civiliztion, man would never be able to travel to the alien world, his bones would turn to dust before his remains reached the first star. Our universe is vast, and thus far we are alone, but, I am reminded of what Rod Serling of Twilight Zone fame once said, "As vast and as expansive as the universe is, all we may be is a spec of dust on a police man's badge waiting to be dusted off,... hence anything is possible." • Maybe not "humans" like us, but certainly other forms of intelligent life.
  • No, but I do believe there are similar species elsewhere in the universe. It's just too big for there not to be.
  • hey anything is possible. It could be that we were originally from there and now we are just waiting till they comeback for us. Think about that . . .
  • I think it would be naive to think we're the only thing out there.
  • Yes, definitely. There has to be other intelligent life out there. The universe is infinitely large. So given that we exist, so must another intelligence.
  • I believe in infinite possibilities.
  • I think its way to vast a universe for there not to be
  • Without a doubt.
  • Humans? No. Another sentient being? Of course. I think there are too many places suitable for evolution in the universe for other rational or altruistic beings not to exist. But humans? The development of our genes was quite context-dependent, so unless there is another planet with the exact same history as earth, we will never find humans.
  • Humans? Absolutely not. Other life? Absolutely.
  • I definitely think so. Whether we'll ever find out for sure though is a different story.
  • i reakon there is a reason we have found no proof of alien life in our gallaxy and that is due to the "grand design" being one of coincidence and probabilty
  • It wouldn't surprise me at all.
  • Yes, I do.
  • Yes, absolutely. I think it is quite fascinating.
  • i think each planet in our solar system has intelligent life. life that would survive in each planet's living conditions on the surface for example. or had at one time. or will have at some moment.
