  • So far, so good. I DID have one problem in the first week. The pre-installed Norton AV was reporting error messages. Neither Symantec nor HP could help with the issues...(long, angry story) This machine replaces the WinME I used for six years. I can only hope Vista serves me as well.
  • Here's an idea - try it and decide for yourself. I'm not being rude, I'm only suggesting that perhaps you are the best judge of whether the OS meets your needs. There's a lot of bad press going around about Vista, but I know a lot of people who are quite happy with it. Your mileage will vary.
  • I have found it to be the best op sys so far (from Microsoft). I have turned off the constant "are you sure you want to run that prog", and am wondering how long it will be before more Vista ready apps will appear. I agree with those who said 'try it and see how you go on'.
  • I installed Vista the day before it was released cuz I'm cool like dat. A few issues at first but just about everything I could do with XP I can do with Vista. I like the prettiness of it even though I wouldn't switch to it just for that. The security and UI enhancements make it worth it for me.
  • You cannot buy anything that does NOT have Vista installed in the UK , in any of the top stores. They say that within 2 years XP will go the way of Windows 98. That is great for me i just bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop with XP installed. On the whole i cannot say a lot becuse i have not really got used to it yet . Some of my old programmes are not compatible. On the whole except for it costing me quite a lot to install programmes i have on my other PC and laptop it seems to be going well enough.
  • Microsoft Admits Vista Failure http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39087 Noooo! Get XP. Microsoft already admitted Vista is a failure, and EVEN DELL STARTED offering computers with XP again because sooo many people were complaining. If you ask a comp savvy person, they will tell you to avoid Vista at all costs. In their user agreement, VISTA RESERVES THE RIGHT to delete and modify any of your programs WITHOUT YOUR IMMEDIATE PERMISSION.
