What products do you call by a certain make, even if you don't have that particular brand? E.g I call a vacuum cleaner a 'Hoover', a roll of sticky tape 'Selatape' and I don't even know what the original name for a 'Stanley knife' is.

the only one that comes to mind is calling adhesive bandages band-aids, mostly because 'adhesive bandage' is a mouthful. We were discouraged from being little advertising machines as kids, but band-aid our mum could never get rid of.
