  • yes. nerd is generally considered a much less offensive term and also doesnt necesarily have to do with the level of inteligence. Geek reffers to the level of inteligence and choice of action and generally has more to do with academics. nerds can be nerds for things like starwars or trek or video games or other things like that
  • Semantics. If you search using Google Definitions for "geek" you get the following result: # A term similar to nerd, but slightly less pejorative in tone.
  • there is a difference, but I think it depends on where you are from as to which is the more derogative term. In the midwest anyway, the definitions are reversed from what Happy Biohazard said. Nerds are linked with intelligence, computer knowledge and academics where geeks are considered to be geeks because of their fan-doms (lord of the rings, star wars, gaming, comic books, etc.)
  • Oh yeah. A geek is not necessarily a nerd. A nerd is not necessarily a geek. I assume in this scenario that a geek in intelligent and probably familiar with computers. I guess nerds are by definition brainy also, but not always. But usually geeks ARE brainiacs. LOL I have no idea where I am headed with this, so I think it's best if I go to bed.
