You're entering dangerous territory. I read a study showing statistically significant improvement in depression for people who went a little walk everyday. I encourage you to try that first. Oh yeah, Xanax is addictive. Just one to ease the pain. You're hurting again, take another. Later that night you still feel bad. Take another, who's counting? BAM! Addiction.

Ask your self question did you use it to get immediate effects or did you use it as an ongoing program. If you chose the latter there is no inteded abuse of the drug.

Hi. I got a prescription of Xanax last year because at times I just couldn't handle my emotions and felt out of control (postpartum, depression, tough year, etc). I find them very helpful but only take them as needed. I have a very low dose and I only take 1/2 even when I do take them. That little bit takes the edge off and I am able to cope the rest of the day. If you are scared of getting addicted, get a trusted friend or family member involved. They can be your support and hold it for you or help you monitor the amount you're taking. It's always important to keep at least one person involved to keep us on our toes. God is always there, of course, but sometimes God can work through people right in front of us...
