I guess they are like two different things. Home Schooling usually lets a child learn at their own speed. It is especially good if the child is bright and advances quickly or if the child has a hard time keeping up at school. The advantage of going to a public school is that a child can experience friendship (every day) and having a teacher around. Usually in the home school situation, a child is almost free to do what they want time wise, but at school they have a set schedule. More group work is required at a public school...I wouldn't know much about public school because I was home schooled and then I went to a private school...sorry.:(

Private offers a better grade of education than both so I'd say neither.

Public for one needs to develope social skills that cannot be developed at home.

Homeschool does allow for socializing. Anyone with logical thinking should be aware that until they have done it, they probably don't know anything about it. I don't know why they call it "home" school but the child's education is not 8 hours a day at the kitchen table. People spread unfounded information about homeschooling, they make many illogical assumptions. My 8 yr old socializes with hundreds of children every month. There is much more diversity than at any public school. Homeschooled kids spend their time with children of all classes, races, religions, and ages. Very much unlike school where he would share his third grade classroom with the same 30 kids day-in and day-out for 180 days a year. The great thing about homeschooling is that kids have the chance to really explore the real world. Through co-ops, both weekly and monthly, church, cub scouts, karate, guitar lessons, soccer, gymnastics, basketball, swim team, dance classes, park days, skate meets, bowling teams, chess clubs, robotics classes/club, science clubs --- my kids get way better social experiences than ANY child who spends his days cooped up in a classroom. They will also learn more and retain more of what they learned (in comparison to today's public schooled kids).

What about them?

I guess it's a personal choice really. I have 2 older children that both went all through public school, but I have a 6 yr old now that I am homeschooling because he has a medical condition which would cause him to be teased and humiliated in public school. Honestly, I have to say he knows a lot more at this age than my other 2 did, but it may just be that all kids are different, not necessarily that homeschooling is better. Those that think there is no socialization in homeschooling are totally wrong! I'm much busier at all times and days of the week with all the groups & classes for homeschooling that I ever was with public schools. This is obviously just my personal opinion, but homeschooling is good as long as you take it seriously & don't just sit around the house. You have to be very committed to doing the work daily above all else! I will say that you can get all the work done in half the time without wasting time for attendance, discipline, lining all the kids up, bathroom breaks, etc....

My wife and I home school both our children. We have been quite pleased with the results so far! If you have question about home schooling then here is a great website written by a veteran home school mom: http://guiltfreehomeschooling.org/blog/

I attend a public school now, I first was sent to a private school, but lets face it, Private schools are sooo uptight! They are very strict and have way toooo many rules. Public school is definetly the best. By the way, if you are homeschooled do you get to go to school in your PJ's?? and another thing that determines public or homeschooled is the type of person.

I am writing a compare/contrast paper on home schooling vs. public schooling. I have to say I see it both ways... I think before anyone defends one of the other shouldn't due to the lack of experience of the other, unless they have experienced both.

HOME SCHOOL! unschooling is DA BEST! public school is okay

Both. Public school during the day. Home school at night.

I wasted my years in public school. I was pulled from my elementary classes because I was slow. Which did no good, i missed class and my resource teacher did try to help but didn't. My junior hs teachers out for maternaity leave and those unqualified to teach. High School oh never learned to write, learn to proofread, spell, outline, history, etc. Entered college clueless and expected to of learn things from Junior HS and High School. Taking a year off to learn what years of public school failed in teaching.
