  • If you can, join at acting group at school (or get one started if there isn't one) or join community acting groups. If you parents are totally against you joining such a group, practice alone in front of friends, a mirror, or, better yet, a video camera if you have access. Online you can find a lot of sites with monologues perfect for practicing and later, auditioning. Take time to learn specialized vocabulary associated with theater and video. Also, watch lots of movies and t.v. That probably won't be hard, but while you do so, pay close attention to how the actors and actresses develop a character through facial expressions and how they talk. If you can, go see some plays as well. Hopefully, your parents will come around once they see you want to study acting seriously, as a craft, and not just be famous.
  • ME TOO! what you should do is just live out your dream and go on american idol whnn they come to your town or near it try to sing even if you cant then tell them that you are a amaing actor and insist to show them when you audition and if they say no ask you are walking away pull a big peice of paper out of your pocket with your number on it and scream i will accept any offers!!

  • Try out for all your school's plays. Also there are local productions put on by play-actors guilds in most communities. Don't fight with your parents about what you want to be. It will only make them more against it. Show them that you have the initiative to do it by starting local. Do accept criticism and take it to heart - when you think you are doing something right, it can come off fake or overdone, that's why you need to listen. Also join chorus, it will improve your voice and give you exposure to performing. Most of all study hard. Prove to your parents that you can keep your grades up while following your heart. English classes will help you learn the correct pronunciation of words which will help your acting. After high school go to college and get involved in the same type of activities.

As you get older, and continue to show intrest in acting, your parents will come around.
