G'day Here to Stay, Thank you for your question. You probably could learn to skate yourself but I would take lessons as it will reduce the number of falls you have. I have attached sources on learning to skate for your reference. Regards Reference About.com Skating http://inlineskating.about.com/od/learningtoskate/Learning_to_Skate.htm Rollerblading tips http://www.londonskaters.com/main_how_to.htm Beginners guide to inline skating http://www.inlineplanet.com/Departments/Beginners/BeginnersGuide.html Learning to skate http://inlinenow.com/learningToSkateTOP.htm

I 'self-learnt' with no probs, its not something you should need a trainer for

i basically taught myself without instructors, i aggressive inline and if you have any friends that do it also you could just ask them for some help when you need it. also if you aggressive inline, you are going to fall. garunteed. and the more you fall the more you are used to dealing with the pain and falling is almost never that bad anymore.

You will obviously save money if you roll by yourself. If it is your first time skating, you'll be best rolling parallel to a handrail, which you could grab onto, if you lose balance.

it is possible, youve got to get the feel of the balance on it and then stride slowly.i suggest you practice at a basketball park with no crowd around or at a car park.rmmbr to wear safety gears!
