it depends on who is saying them. from some people, it just sounds too corney and insincere. some i don't like regardless of the person saying them such as: sugar booger, muffin, and kitten.

Well, hearing my abusive grandmother calling me "little rabbit" when she's in a good mood makes me feel weird (not in a good way), and for some reason, invaded. I feel somewhat uneasy when my grandfather calls me that (and "little sun" -- it's Russian, makes no sense in English). I like it when people call me dear, dearie, etc. As long as they're people I like. My girlfriend doesn't really have a term of endearment that doesn't involve changing my name around, and I'm fine with that. :)
-
I usually only use them for my husband and son. I don't mind it when someone uses them on me. A lot of people here use them and I find it endearing. :)

It's to mushy for someone I know to use these terms. I don't mind it when the lady cashier calls me Hon. or Dear, it actually makes me feel better. If my mother were to talk to me like that I'd think that she would sound like Eric Cartman's mother from South Park and I would be a little annoyed.

I like pet names because it's another way you can show love and caring. It's always been a way of communication for our family.

We have our own terms of endearment in my family. I am proud of this, because, when I grew up, there was no affection shared. My mother would only ever use our full names, there were never any little pet names (except "chook" sometimes). She never called my father by anything other than his name. She called her own mum "mother". It was hard to break the patterns of generations (her mother did the same to her family), but I did it.

It really depends on who it is. I personally never really liked honey. But dear and sweetheart sounds fine.
-
I love it when my significant other calls me pet names, but when someone I barely know or a teacher, especially, calls me "sweetie." It makes it seem like they're condescending me or acting snobby. I.e.: "Here, let me fix your collar, sweetie."

I don't mind my friends and family using terms of endearment. My auntie is always calling me "sweetie" or sometimes "sweetheart". I just hate it when random people on the street use it, I really hate it and I get angry.
-
I don't mind. Its cute unless the person is random and a guy (In my situation)
-
It's cute... but its for family (which would never say such terms to me anyway), friends and S/O only! =)
