Good question. I think it's because the jean manufacturer has to hire additional people to rip holes in them...and this goes right along with the jeans that have paint all over them, or look dirty. I can do all that on my own, thanks!

Although I was originally against the ripped jeans fad, I gave in. Jeans that are preripped actually last waay longer than jeans you rip yourself. I'm not talking about just open holes. I mean, if the jeans have that white fringe-y stuff. If you manage to rip your own jeans and get the white fringe, the fringe would go away as soon as you wash them. But if you're talking about regular holes, then I have no idea why they cost more. In fact, I have seen jeans that are more holes than fabric. So, you pay about 20$ extra bucks to look trampy. Hehe
