Im too young to find the news interesting enough to watch so can someone please explain what the Virginia Tech massacre is?

This morning in a school in Virgina (Virginia Tech) a shooter came into the school and shot over 40 people, killing 32 of them. The killer died at the school as well. The first shots were belived to be fired at 7:15 am and continued until a bit after 10:00 am. This is right now the deadliest mass shooting in US history. :(

At around 7 in the morning a gunman went into a dorm in Virginia Tech and shot 2 people, and then 2 hours later he lined students up in a class room and shot them all one by one and then killed himself.

The gunman also was killed, and at least 15 other people were injured. Federal law enforcement officials said the gunman killed himself after he shot dozens of people at two locations at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, in southwest Virginia. Thirty-two people plus the shooter were confirmed dead. In addition to the 33 dead, hospitals reported that 15 people were injured. Five were in stable condition; the conditions of the others were not immediately reported. It was not immediately clear that all of the injured people had been shot. Some may have been injured when they leaped to safety from the fourth floor of a classroom building. Investigators told NBC News that they had so far been unable to positively identify the gunman, whose face was disfigured when he was killed. prince fan, around 7:15 this morning two people were shot and killed in a dorm. around 9:30 several people were shot and 30 were killed in a building that had classrooms and teacher's offices. the shooter in that incident then shot himself. that is the death toll as of 4:46 pm central time (where i am.) they have not yet confirmed that the two incidents are related but they are not looking for a suspect in the earlier shooting so i guess they believe they are related and just can't prove it yet.
