  • I understand how younger children can not handle themseleves well in a crisis but these are COLLEGE students! ADULTS! They deserve to know what is happening!
  • I've just come home to hear this awful news. I'm very shocked to see that the maniac was running round the campus while the students were left to their own devices. All those wasted young lives. Oh dear.
  • I think we should hold off on the recriminations until we know more of what has happened. It is still too early to know what could and could not have been done. This is a horror, and it is raw. Let the dust settle and the facts become clear before we start making comments either way.
  • sorry. hit the button more tha once by accident...not using my puter.

  • As a result of this tragedy, I bet all colleges will change their security procedures including informing students and staff of any emergency thats happening on campus.
  • I don't think the students knowing any more information would have stopped it. The guy had a semi automatic weapon, which works pretty quickly. I think the efforts of every available police officer, VT staff, EMT, and every other person was better suited to save the lives of the injured instead of updating the irritated at the lockdown and calming the scared but unharmed. Every single time something bad happens the public looks to criticize how the incident was handled, and I am so sick of it. I can not imagine how I would feel if it were my children or my friends. What happened today was terrible! But I am not about to criticize what I was not there to witness. Should any of us?
  • I don't see how they could have been warned other than mass e-mails that they did send. And I really think that those in authority did the best they could. Let's not refocus the blame on them. It is the shooter who who deserves it all.
  • It looks like they really tried and their sick about what happened
