Yes, and hell yes I reported them. People think they can walk into any store they like and take whatever they like without paying. These are also usually the same people who are as tight as a cats arse when it comes to being generous to others. Bit sad, really.

Nope. I mind my own business when I am in the store. I don't feel it's my position to watch and report things that go on in a retail store. They pay good money for surveillance cameras, security tags and guards to handle matters like this. If I saw something that could result in personal injury or death, that I would report.

I saw something worse than shoplifting in my opinion. Back in the 80's there was a woman who worked as a cashier at Sears. I worked down the street and frequently went in there on my lunch hour. One day I noticed her check out another lady who had a lot of clothing. It filled 3 bags. Yet the total was only $30.00 something dollars. I thought that was odd. Over the next couple of months I went into the store frequently. I watched this cashier. After what I thought was the 3rd time she was giving clothes away, I confronted her. I told her that she needed to turn herself in. She became quite nervous and upset. She begged me not to tell anyone and said she would never do it again. I reported her anyway. To my knowledge, nothing ever came of it. She was still working there a year later. Perhaps because of the lack of security cameras back then, there was no real proof, and therefore nothing they could do.

I have seen evidence of shoplifting at the commissary where I work. I put the empty package in the salvage area so it could be counted as lost inventory. Because I work when the store is closed for the night, I could not catch anyone in the act.

I caught a shoplifter when i was working in a CHARITY shop. I was the only person on the shopfloor and 3 big guys came in and put clothes in a carrier bag when they thought i couldnt see (I saw them in the mirror instead). Unfortunately i didnt do anything until they left the shop because i was a 16 year old girl and they were 3 big burly blokes - but i reported the incident to the police giving full descriptions. I still wonder what type of scumbags steal from a charity organisation???

I would probably try to get to a security guard before the thief leaves and try to get them caught.
-
No I wouldn't get involved, be a different thing if I were an employee of the place that they were stealing from of course
-
I'd tell someone.. I like to see drama go down..
-
No. I'm pro-stealing... I think we should all do it now and again.
-
not unless I knew the person who owned the store personaly
-
Naa.. It's happened. I told the guy ''PUT THAT SHIT BACK!'' and he did yo... :)=)
-
Yes I absolutely would and did at our local WalMart. I saw a man putting some small packages of hardware in his pocket so I found an associate and informed them. He supposedly went to find a manager, but I don't know what happened. I worked for a world wide security company for 16 years so it kind of came naturally to me. But for those of us who are honest, we pay in the long run for those who steal by paying higher prices.

i used to work for acme so i had too. but no normally i wouldn't cause it's not my business to take care of plus i think i stole some things when i was younger little stuff though.
-
If it was a kid, I'd probably tell them to put it back, possibly implying I was store security. But I wouldn't try to find a real employee.
-
Yes, I'd go ask for the store manager and tell them. I'd never confront someone (unless they were with me or (God forbid) my own kids) about it. You neve know how people might react or if they have a weapon.
-
No, and anyone who would is a tattle tale. Mind yer own buisness. Unless the theft is from your own buisness!
-
Nah, i probably wouldnt say anything.
-
probably not.
-
Not unless it was something I wanted to steal.
