  • Because G-d also gave us free will. So party on!
  • Because He also gave us free will, so therefore, we don't have to. To try and live up to his standards is something we choose to do or not do.
  • Free will. Our free will is the one thing God won't cross. I do my best to live up to His standards and rules and my will sucks so I pray that God will let His will be done in my life.
  • "God" is the Spirit that dwells in all of us. It's the "good" in you. It's up to each individual to tap into that Spirit as best as, and as often as, he/she can.
  • Did god tell us? Or did some people claiming to have spoken to god tell us? This question is going to depend on beliefs. Many theists do follow rules that they believe their god gave to them. An example of this would be Christians following the 10 commandments. Of course there are many reasons why people don't follow these rules. Many people don't believe in a god so why would they follow rules they don't believe were created by a supreme being? Even people who do believe in god can't agree which one, or even if they agree on this - they don't agree on the rules. The fact there are so many various denominations of Christianity shows how many people don't agree on the same rules even when they believe in the same god. So before you are going to follow these rules, you have to make a decision on whether you believe in a god or gods, whether these rules were created by the god or gods you believe in and whether they are the correct interpretation of these rules. Certainly your version of the 'right rules' will vary from many other peoples. The fact is even those who believe in a god or gods can't agree on a definite set and then you have people who do not believe in deities who do not believe there is a god or gods to pass these rules on. I am Agnostic. I don't follow your particular religious denominations decision on the correct rules, or another other denomination's or religion's because I do not believe IF there was a god or gods that they would pass such rules onto mankind in that fashion.
  • This question raises an important point. Christian ethics is based on humankind being commanded / obliged to act in a moral and ethical way. Naturally some people will not follow them, for their is the Eastern /Buddhist way that allows for morality and ethics to come from within, from our own intelligence and understanding, from our own actions and consequences. Gods standards are imposed from outside, and takes away our freedom to develop our own ethical and moral codes. Im not being "funny", but who gave God the authority to lay down the law ??
  • Through Adam and Eve, who ate from the Forbidden Tree, we as human beings are now born with sin in our hearts. Plus the fact that God did not want a bunch of robots running around, He granted us free will. It is this free will that allows us to do as we please, even if that means ignoring the fact that God is our Abba Father (I'm not trying to be offensive to Atheist, just stating an example-please don't take it personally,) or partying throughout our youth and then when we get older finding Him (kind of what I did!) If Adam and Eve, and all who would have come after them; would never have eaten from the Forbidden Tree, we would still have the free will, but chances are we would not have a world where morality has decaded to practically nothing. Hope this helps your inquiry. In His service, <:))))<>< "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21
  • Because God gave us free will too.
