I have a Infiniti G20t, inline 4cyl with fuel injection. The engine idle speed runs normal, but then it will drop out for a few seconds and pick back up to normal. Why?

    I have a 2000 infiniti g20t as well and if i step on the gas and floor it then it putters and stalls but if i gradually press on the gas its slow but its fine...i did use a fuel system cleaner but to no avail..any ideas?

    Not knowing what "drop out" means relative to the idle speed, but assuming he is talking about a minor fluctuation, this can be caused when the air conditioner compressor kicks in at low idle. Also this can be caused when the cooling fans kick in if the car has been idling too long and the radiotor needs additionally cooling. Either of these things could cause the idle of the car to change in rpm briefly.
