Well that could be a range of problems, just to some tests, I take it your running this system, RCA line out of the TV to an RCA Auxillary input into the amplifier? ok well try some different cables, plug in say a cd player to the amplifier test it, illiminate, the cables by trying different ones, if its fine there you go, if not, illiminate tv by plugging in a different input source, eg computer, cd player, whatever, then you will know, sorry can't be of more assitance I don't know enough about your current setup, Hope it helps.

If the sound cuts in and out periodically, as you are saying, it's probably an electronics problem, rather than a cable problem. Does your TV have 2 speakers on it? If so, is there any problem with the sound coming out of them alone? If there is, there you go, it's the TV. If there isn't, I'd say there's a problem with your amp. As for what's causing it, that's a problem for a professional repair person. If your TV doesn't have integrated speakers, test the audio by running it to a different device, like a computer, via the line in jack (or the mic jack if you don't have one).
